MISSION STATEMENT: REFOCUSING NOT RETIRING – capitalizing on delayed gratification, not taking things too seriously. Most importantly, not waiting for life to be perfect to begin enjoying it. And for the time being, creating this web site as a mechanism for sharing my experiences on the 2023 Tour D’Afrique Blog.

As the sands of time blew across 60 years of preparing for and practicing as a cardiac surgeon, seasons changed. Recently I made the decision not to retire but to refocus. In the process I moved back to the family farm in Iowa, owned and operated by brother Doug. I moved into the little house my parents had lived in. I was amazed, after bringing my possessions from both coasts and from around the world, how well it all fit together. It seems the Iowa farm boy was always in me. It is now serves as my World Headquarters
